Who is at Risk?

  • Household or sexual contacts with infected person
  • Travelers in developing countries
  • Living in area where there is HAV outbreak
  • Persons engaging in anal/oral sex
  • Injection drug users

Prevention

  • Immune globulin within 2 weeks of exposure
  • Vaccination
  • Washing hands
  • Household bleach (10 parts water to 1 part bleach)
  • Safer sexual practices
